George Dickel distills great whisky in Tennessee. George Dickel Rye is not one of them. It actually comes from MGP in Indiana. The 95% rye/5% barley mash bill is really popular. You may have seen it as Bulleit Rye, Templeton Rye, Redemption Rye and more. George Dickel makes the rye whisky unique by charcoal mellowing it. (more…)

Last month Diageo, George Dickel’s parent company, invited me to the George Dickel distillery, covering my travel expenses in the process. I was joined by four fellow whiskey bloggers for a private tour conducted by distiller Allisa Henley. It seems Diageo really wanted us to come away with a better understanding of what goes into making George Dickel Tennessee Whisky.
