When I last visited Heaven Hill’s Bourbon Heritage Center, I made sure to pick up a bottle of something for myself.  It came down to two bourbons: Heaven Hill Select Stock and William Heavenhill 11 year old Bottled-In-Bond.  I sampled both just minutes prior to my purchase and decided to go with the more experimental of the two: Heaven Hill Select Stock, available only at their Bourbon Heritage Center.  This is a barrel-proof (124.4 proof), single barrel, 8 year old wheated bourbon that’s finished in cognac casks for 32 months.

Diageo is packing a one-two punch in the American Whiskey world.  Recently, the I.W. Harper brand was reintroduced to the United States after a 20 year absence.  Now, their newest brand, Blade and Bow, is their homage to the Stitzel-Weller Distillery.  Blade and Bow is entering the market in two forms:  a 22-year old, one-time release and a no age statement general release.  Today, we’re looking at the general release.

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof (ECBP), one of Heaven Hill’s best kept secrets, is not so secret anymore.  Okay, so it was never much of a secret.  Whiskey enthusiasts and collectors seem to really enjoy ECBP.  Released in a couple of small batches every year, ECBP is a full-strength, non-chill filtered version of Elijah Craig 12 year old.  This batch, from 2014, is 132.4 proof.  Every batch’s proof is slightly different.  Like most limited edition bourbons these days, this monster of a whiskey disappears soon after it hits the shelves.
