George Dickel distills great whisky in Tennessee.  George Dickel Rye is not one of them.  It actually comes from MGP in Indiana.  The 95% rye/5% barley mash bill is really popular.  You may have seen it as Bulleit Rye, Templeton Rye, Redemption Rye and more.  George Dickel makes the rye whisky unique by charcoal mellowing it. George Dickel No. 1 White Corn Whisky Review

A couple of years back, George Dickel entered the white whisky category with their George Dickel No. 1.  It’s an unaged, white corn whisky utilizing their traditional mash bill of 84% corn, 8% rye and 8% barley.  They refer to this as their “foundation recipe” on the label.  A few years in the barrel and this white corn whisky becomes the George Dickel we know and love.  After this whisky comes off the still, it goes through charcoal filtering, like the rest of the Dickel lineup, and is diluted down to 91 proof.  I’m not a huge fan of unaged whiskey, especially of the vast abundance of moonshine on the store shelves.  However, I thought I’d give this a go since it’s labeled as corn whisky and not moonshine. Cooper’s Cask Coffee – Whiskey Barrel Aged Coffee Review

We love our whiskey and we love our coffee, but what about whiskey barrel-aged coffee?  John Speights and the team from Cooper’s Cask Coffee are banking that you’ll go for it.  Aging things in ex-whiskey barrels seem to be all the rage these days.  Hell, I even own a pair of whiskey barrel-aged jeans.  On the ingestible end of the spectrum, there’s a never-ending list of food products aged in ex-whiskey barrels.  Some good, some not so good, but all an interesting experiment nonetheless.
