Buffalo Trace Experimental Collection – French Oak Review

This latest Experimental Collection release from Buffalo Trace Distillery plays around with French oak.  This should be interesting as just about all bourbon whiskey is aged in American Oak barrels.  Ten years ago, Buffalo Trace made two different barrels types:  one made entirely of French Oak, and one made with American oak staves and French oak heads.  These barrels were filled with their mash bill #1 whiskey and aged 10 years.  (Note:  I received a small review sample from Buffalo Trace.)

Colonel E.H. Taylor Single Barrel Bourbon Review

A few weeks ago when I posted about Colonel E.H. Taylor Cured Oak, I realized I never reviewed my bottle of E.H. Taylor Single Barrel.  So here goes…  Buffalo Trace’s E.H. Taylor line all share something – they are all Bottled-In-Bond (BIB).  I have a brief note about what BIB is in my writeup of E.H. Taylor Small Batch.  We’re not sure how old this bourbon is, only that it’s at least four years old.  Rumor has it closer to 7 to 10 years old.  So, how does it taste?

Booker’s Bourbon “Dot’s Batch” (2015-02) Review

Booker’s bourbon, one of my favorite Jim Beam whiskies, is moving forward by looking back in 2015.  This year there will feature several limited edition small batches, each carrying a custom label commemorating the legacy of the late Booker Noe.  Booker Noe, the bottle’s namesake, was the former master distiller at Jim Beam and father to current master distiller Fred Noe.
