Jim Beam Black is the first big step-up in quality from the original Jim Beam White Label.  Originally labeled with an 8 year old age statement, JB Black now comes to us as “Extra Aged.”  In a world where distillers are dropping age statements left and right, there’s some comfort in knowing the quality in this bottle is left largely intact.  Having tasted JB Black 8 year before, I can say the flavor profile is very similar and the difference is probably unnoticeable to most.  So, how does it taste?

Jim Beam Bonded Bourbon Whiskey Review

Jim Beam Bonded is the company’s newest (as of the writing of this post) release.  It’s a Bottled-In-Bond version of the standard 4 year Jim Beam White Label.  That means it’s 100 proof, aged at least 4 years, and distilled by one distillery in one distilling season, as per the Bottled In Bond Act of 1897.  I picked up this bottle while browsing the shelves of a Bardstown, KY liquor store during a recent visit.  $22 for 100 proof Jim Beam?  Now we’re talking.

Jim Beam Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey (White Label) Review

Here we are.  A whiskey blogger and a bottle of the world’s best selling bourbon, Jim Beam.  The name is legendary in the bourbon world.  Everybody knows Jim Beam white label.  It’s everywhere.  No one’s ever complained of not finding a bottle.  It’s Beam’s standard offering, aged 4 years and bottled at 80 proof.  This one’s generally considered a mixer.  Most JB White Label fans I know love it on the rocks, including myself.  However, for the sake of review on this blog I’ll nose and taste this bourbon in a Glencairn whisky glass.
